The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride has been a fixture in the motorcycle since 2012 – spreading across the globe and raising more than £30 million for men’s mental health and prostate cancer research. Triumph has been tied to the event since 2014 and to mark the tenth running of the DGR under that partnership it’s launched the Bonneville T120 DGR Limited Edition.

Over the years, Triumph has given away one-off bikes to the top fundraisers at the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, including a unique Thruxton RS DGR and last year a custom Bonneville T120 with a matching Gibson Les Paul guitar. For 2023 the firm is marking the event with the Triumph Bonneville T120 Black Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride Limited Edition.

As well as having one of the longest names ever to grace a production bike – no wonder Triumph refers to it as the DGR Limited Edition rather than using the whole mouthful – the 2023 machine will be offered for sale, with a limited run of 250 examples being made. Of those, 249 are to be sold worldwide, while the very first one – No 001 – will be given to the top fundraiser of the 2023 DGR. Every bike will come with a certificate signed by Triumph CEO Nick Bloor and DGR founder Mark Hawwa.

Just 25 of the Bonneville T120 Black DGR Limited Editions are allocated to the UK market, with a price of £12,595. That’s £800 more than the standard T120 Black, which seems pretty reasonable given the scarcity and the exclusive paint scheme.

The Bonneville TR120 DGR is marked out by a two-tone paint scheme, with metallic black over white in a design intended to represent the suit and shirt worn to a smart dinner, reflecting the ‘dapper’ style associated with the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride. Hand-painted gold pinstripes on the tank and side panels are inspired by accessories like a pocket watch or tie pin, and the DGR script on the sides and tank confirms the bike’s official association with the event.

Since the DGR Limited Edition is based on the T120 Black, the black theme extends to the forks, exhausts, wheel rims and engine covers.

The spec is unchanged from the standard bike, including the familiar 80hp, 1200cc parallel twin engine, switchable traction control, two riding modes, cruise control and Brembo brakes.

DGR founder Mark Hawwa said: “If anyone had said 10 years ago that we’d be celebrating a decade of partnership with Triumph Motorcycles, I would have laughed. That first year of signing with Triumph has always been a highlight for me. It felt exciting, and that excitement still carries on every year. Triumph has become like a family to me and to The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride. They are passionate about getting classic styled bikes out for a ride and using the machines we love to make a positive impact for our cause. That excitement and passion has now been brought together in a product that speaks to our journey together. We are beyond proud to release the Bonneville T120 Black Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride Limited Edition motorcycle, to celebrate what we have achieved together, and to continue doing more of what we love.”
