Last updated: 11th June 2024

About these Terms and Conditions

Bennetts is a trading name of Bennetts Motorcycling Services Limited, registered in England and Wales (company number 11453343) with its registered office at 27 Old Gloucester Street, London WC1N 3AX. We are an independent insurance intermediary (agent), which means that we are not associated with any insurance company. We do not insure you, but are the link between you and the insurer in the setting up of your insurance.

Bennetts Motorcycling Services Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA registered number 913949).

Our permitted business is selling, administering and renewals of general insurance contracts.

You can confirm Bennetts Motorcycling Services Limited's statutory status on the Financial Conduct Authority website at register.fca.org.uk or by contacting the Financial Conduct Authority on 0800 111 6768.

These Terms & Conditions will apply when you accept an offer by us to provide services in the setting up and managing insurance for you. In most cases these terms will terminate if you cancel or do not renew your insurance but may continue to apply if we carry out any services following cancellation.

You will also enter into a separate contract with the insurer providing your insurance. Details of the premium charged and the terms and conditions relevant to the insurance policy are set out in your Policy Document. When you purchase additional products or pay for your policy by instalments using a running account credit agreement, you will enter further contracts with each insurer or supplier of these services.

1. Whose products do we offer?

We offer products from a range of insurers for bike insurance.

We only offer products from a single provider for:

  • Legal Expenses Cover – Underwritten by Financial and Legal Insurance Company Limited and administered by 4th Dimension Innovation Limited

  • Personal Accident Cover – Underwritten by UK General Insurance Limited on behalf of Watford Insurance Company Europe Limited

  • Helmet and Leathers Cover – Underwritten by UK General Insurance Limited on behalf of Watford Insurance Company Europe Limited

  • Breakdown and Breakdown Plus – provided by RAC Motoring Services

  • Breakdown EU – provided by RAC Motoring Services and RAC Insurance Service Limited

  • Premium Finance – provided by Premium Credit Limited

2. Which service will we provide you with?

We will not provide you with advice or recommendation on whether the insurance policy is suitable for your needs. We will ask some questions to narrow down the selection of products that we provided details on. You will then need to make your own choice about how to proceed.

Our insurance intermediary services we will provide to you include:

  1. Arranging your bike insurance by selecting a range of best prices from our panel of insurers that we can offer, arranging your cover with the chosen insurer based on your requirements, dealing with your payment and providing you with the details and documentation relating to your policy.

  2. Dealing with your requests for adjustments you have to make to your policy, such as changes to the cover required, the use and/or property insured. We will notify the insurer, deal with any amendments or adjustments of premium required and provide you with confirmation of any changes to your policy. We may arrange cover with an alternative insurer if the amendments to your policy are not acceptable to your original insurer.

  3. Arranging the cancellation of your policy at your request, notifying the insurer, dealing with any refunds of premium, confirming the changes to your policy and arranging for the return of documents.

  4. Dealing with your requests for any duplicate or replacement documentation relating to your policy and/or additional products.

  5. Arranging optional additional add–on products where you consider these products meet your needs.

  6. We will also arrange the renewal of your insurance and additional products based on your requirements (see Renewals section).

Further details can be found in our About your insurance page.

6. Are we covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)?

We are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if we cannot meet our obligations. This depends on the type of business and the circumstances of the claim. Insurance advising and arranging is covered for 90% of the claim, without any upper limit. For compulsory classes of insurance, insurance advising and arranging is covered for 100% of the claim without any upper limit. Further information about compensation schemes arrangements is available from the FSCS. Please visit www.fscs.org.uk for more information.

7. Your Obligations

When we set up your insurance, we and the insurers will ask questions which you are required to answer. You must take reasonable care to answer these questions honestly, to the best of your knowledge, and give full answers and relevant details. If you do not answer the questions honestly, or to the best of your knowledge, insurers may have the right to impose different terms, charge additional premiums (which Bennetts Motorcycle Services Limited reserves the right to collect), reduce the amount of any claim payable, or cancel the policy from the start and, in this event, any claims would not be paid.

Proof of No Claims Discount (NCD) may be required if you take out a policy to which a NCD has been applied. This proof should be a renewal notice, policy schedule or letter from your previous insurance company, which shows the main driver as the policyholder and the NCD earned. This proof should be provided within 21 days of your policy start date. If you do not do this we will amend your policy to 0 years NCD and charge the additional premium plus a £32 admin fee. In some cases your policy could be cancelled and you may be charged a cancellation fee.

N.B. This NCD can only be used on one policy at any one time, must have been earned on a motorcycle and used on a policy within the last 24 months.
